The night before takeoff!

It is about 23:00 and I have not finished packing yet. Instead of completing my tasks, I went to go see a movie with my friends. side note... Transformers was awesome!

I am generally feeling very positive about my upcoming adventure. Ever since I took part of Insight Theatre, ( a pro-choice theatre troupe that travels the Carleton School Board singing, dancing, and making skits relating to sexual and reproductive health, for grade 7-12), I have envisioned travelling Canada and advocating this topic.

It is hard to explain how I became involved in sexual health education because it kind of just happened. My friends told me about Insight Theatre and from there I trained to become a Planned Parenthood volunteer. Someone told me about Canadian Youth for Choice and the Know Your Rights Tour in passing. Telling me that I should join and apply for the job. So I did, and I surprisingly got it!

Presently being in high school, I see daily how many people are not aware of their sexual health information. Furthermore their rights regarding that information. This year, one of my friends sat beside me during history class and asked questions about sexual and reproductive health (SRH) during the entire period, which is 75 minutes!

I feel passionate about SRH and I am thrilled to be part of the Street Team. The only problem was, until recently, I did not truly comprehend what my tasks were going to be. Therefore, when people inquired about my summer job, I did not always have an answer for them. This was a particular issue with my father's partner. Two days ago she told me how excited she was for the first half of the tour to end because I would be back home. She worries a little bit too much at times. But I am glad she is concerned about my safety.

When I joined CYC, I began exchanging e-mails with two other Street Team Memebers, Dania and Darnell. They are both very steller people! Amanda has a captivating personality. Meghan seems like a very worldly youth. I am proud to be part of this organization they worked hard to get started.

My favourite moment of our training was by far creating our Pleasure Chest. We decorated the cooler we are going to be carrying condoms in. I must say it is beautiful, and most pimp-tastic!

Looking at the clock, it is only getting later... and the packing not getting done. Thus I must say Adieu. Bonne nuit.
